A message from a friend from Ladakh:
This time in Leh is too cold. If possible send some winter clothes like shoes jacket for Leh. Please.
This cloths I give to a school in a village near photang, they really need this one.
Ladakh, a high region at an altitude of 3500 mt, lies behind India in the Himalayas.
Living at this altitude is very difficult due to the harsh climatic conditions.
For roughly 6-7 months of the year, the country remains cut off from the rest of the world due to the harsh climate.
Flight connections exist, but are too expensive.
Only a small part of the population has a school education. Above all, the people living in the villages are mostly uneducated and work in agriculture.
But because of the dry and cold climate, productivity is not even sufficient for the family itself. Many families cannot afford
to send their children to school. Your children later go to work as garbage collectors and all the small jobs they can find to make a living.
If you talk to the children, you quickly find out that they want to go to school. Many of the children are very intelligent and confident.
My friend owns a small hotel in Ladakh that is only open for 4-5 months. During the winter he tries to go to the poor families and teach their children in his own way.
It is a humble request to give these poor children a helping hand so that they can learn properly and lead a better life.
For the Customs must be on the parcel labels: Second hand, clothes for children.
Check the "Gift" box and indicate the value with 0 euros or 0 dollars.
In the field of content description it can be emphasized that the content is a donation for children.
Many thanks to everyone who helps the children in Ladakh. The children's clothing first goes to a hospital in Himachal Pradesh and from there on with army planes. From Leh brings friends the clothes to a village in the Himalayas and distributes them to the most needy.
From autumn to spring, all access passes to Ladakh are blocked and the connection through the army for Aid packages is a very good option.
By the way, who wants to travel to Ladakh goes from June to September.

For all helpers for poor children in Ladakh. First I want to thank you for your kind concern. These children are very poor and need help.
Winter here in Ladakh is very cold and long. Especially this year the mercury has gone down very low (-20 to -30 degree Celsius). Schools in winter remain closed for 4-5 months. Familien cannot afford scool hostel accommodation because of their financial situation. However we have somehow arranged a room where they can stay together, keep themselves warm and also carry out their studies. Heating facilities are not available. Families stay together in one room or so. They keep their cattle (if they have) in the ground floor and themselves stay in the room above it. This is a local way of keeping warm and cuts down expenses on fire food and others. Electrical energy is expensive. However the govt has provided solar lamps to poor families but many of them are non functional. They are leading a very pathetic and difficult life. Still if you look at these children, they are so full of life with big dreams in their eyes. They all are very keen to study and to get to a respectable position for themselves and their parents. Many of them are very skilful and talented. If only they get a good help from somewhere their lives can get better. Thanks again and I hope the best for these poor children.
